And the 16 nominees are Nirvana, KISS, Hall and Oates, Chic, the Replacements, the Meters, Linda Rondstadt, N.W.A., the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Deep Purple, Peter Gabriel, LL Cool J, Cat Stevens, Link Wray, Yes and the Zombies.
Half this list are first time nominees, including the “Teen Spirit” band who is eligible for the first time this year.
The nominees span 6 decades of music ranging from pop metal, grunge, 70’s and 80’s icons and rappers. In order to get on the list your first debut single or album must have been 25 years ago.
Voting will be open to more than 600 fans through December 10, people can cast ballots at the Rock Hall, Rolling Stone and USA Today. Visit www.rockhall.com/vote, www.rollingstone.com and www.usatoday.com to cast ballots.
The induction is 29 years strong and will take place in April in New York.
